It provides shipping and other marine users with vital navigational warnings, meteorological information and urgent safety information receives in English on 518 kHz every 4 hours from transmitters around the world. Increasingly, local language and small craft information is also transmitted on 490 kHz while 4209.5 kHz use for long range NAVTEX services.
